Day 2

In the morning, meet your private guide to start the tour of the old fishing villages, where history meets myth. You will begin the tour with a walk in Acitrezza, an ancient fishing village founded at the end of the seventeenth century. From the promenade you can admire the landscape, dominated by the Faraglioni, eight basaltic rocks which, according to legend, were thrown into the sea by Polyphemus to hit Odysseus.

Then, the tour continues in Aci Castello, an ancient fishing village dominated by a basalt cliff on which is perched the Norman castle, which was built in 1076 using lava stone.

The castle currently houses the Museo Civico, consisting of three sections: mineralogy, paleontology and archeology. We will also visit the main Church with frescoes by Pietro Paolo Vasta.

Day 3

In the morning, head to Etna and meet with your private guide to start a trekking experience, to learn more about the destructive power of Mount Etna.

In fact, you will start from “Piano Provenzana”, whose buildings were totally rebuilt after the 2002 eruption. Following the path to the crater summit, you will then walk for one hour to arrive at the 2002 craters. Here, you’ll admire “Monte Nero” and its gorgeous desert of lava stone.

Finally, you’ll finish your excursion with a nice picnic at the “Timparossa Refuge”.

              .

In the afternoon, head to Bronte and meet with your private guide. The town of Bronte is known as the birthplace of pistachio, and it’s a shame to leave Sicily without a stop in this rural area, that features a lava landscape on which lush pistachio trees take root.

A visit to a farm will allow you to witness the stages of the processing of this product, whose nickname is “green gold”.

You will enjoy the excellent products made with pistachio: creams, cakes, nougats, pesto, spirits and more. At the end of the tour, visit the Castle of Lord Nelson.

Day 6

In the morning, head to Agrigento and meet with your private guide.

The monumental ruins of ancient Akrágas represent one of the most important archaeological complexes in the Mediterranean area. They stand out in an agricultural landscape that is characterized by centuries-old olive and almond trees. The tour will develop along the rocky crest of Temple Hill. Since the late sixth century BCA, a series of sanctuaries consecrated to the most important Polias Gods have decorated this crest.
