5 THINGS NOT TO MISS IN ARUBA WHEN TRAVELING WITH KIDS.
By Anna Fishman
Family vacation! Finally!!! You’ve been dreaming about, planning it, waiting for it. And now it is time to enjoy it! Aruba is a great destination for a family trip that offers a variety of things to do and see for all ages. Here is a list of the top 5 things to do with kids on the tropical heaven of Aruba!
1. Flamingo Beach
Flamingo Beach is where the iconic Aruba pictures are taken. It’s around $100 per person for a day pass to the private island where you can hang out with flamingos. The island is a part of the Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino, so if you stay at the resort you get a free access to Flamingo Beach! Kids are allowed on the beach from 9-10 AM as they are on the adult-only side of the resort. Spend the rest of your day on the family-side where the beach is fantastic for swimming. You can rent kayaks, paddle boards, go on diving trips, and have a nice lunch at the resort restaurant. It is an absolute must for an amazing family experience!
2. National Park Tour
Going on a national park tour in Aruba is a great educational and fun activity for the whole family. Be sure to see the California Lighthouse, natural bridge, Gold Mine Ruins, the oldest Catholic Church on the island (which still has a mass on Tuesdays), and the natural pool – cenote. The natural pool is a great place to swim and snorkel, and there is even a small cliff to jump off of into the water. The kids will have a blast! Go with a guide or by yourself and learn about Aruba’s history, natural beauty, and culture.
3. Philip’s Animal Garden
Kids love petting zoos and this one would not be an exception! Phillip’s Animal Garden is a fun outing for the day where the kids can interact with and feed monkeys, alpacas, goats, horses, and many other animals. The staff and environment are very friendly and relaxed, making for a really enjoyable and memorable time.
4. The Butterfly Farm
Imagine yourself as you walk through a tropical rain forest surrounded by flowers and trees, ponds and a sound of a trickling waterfall while butterflies fly all around you in their own natural paradise. This is what your experience would be like at the Butterfly Farm in Aruba. You can see hundreds of real exotic butterflies fly freely. Take a 15 minute guided tour to learn more about these spectacular species from all over the world. One admission gets you readmissions for the whole week, so you can return anytime you want during your vacation.
5. De Palm Island
Visit the six-slide water park on De Palm Island when you are ready to take a little break from lounging on the beach. There are fun water play areas for the kids to run around and explore as well as an enclosed area of ocean where you can snorkel in calm waters. You will have an amazing time in Aruba and these tips will help you plan your visit to make your vacation less hectic. After all, you are traveling with kids!
