It’s the first time Ireland has hosted the Ryder Cup since 2006, it’s the 100th anniversary of the competition, and Europe will be defending after their stunning victory on American soil in 2025.

And here’s what I need you to know: if you’re thinking about going, you need to start planning now. As a luxury travel planner who specializes in building bespoke European itineraries, I can tell you that hotels, drivers, and logistics in this part of Ireland are going to be at a premium and the best options are already moving fast.

Build-up days: Monday, September 13 through Thursday, September 16 practice rounds, opening ceremonies, and the atmosphere builds.

Most of our clients will want to be there for the full week, but at minimum, plan for the three competition days plus a day before to settle in and soak up the energy.

Ticket accounts for the 2027 Ryder Cup are already open, and this is the part you need to do yourself. Tickets are managed directly by Ryder Cup Europe, not through Adare Manor and not through travel advisors.
Here is the piece people miss. Only registered account holders can enter the ticket ballot or buy tickets at all. Creating the account is free and takes a few minutes, and without it you are not in the running. Do that today whether or not you have decided to go.

One thing worth knowing while you wait on the ballot. The number of good rooms within reach of Adare is finite and a lot of them are already spoken for. So the conversation is worth having early even before your tickets are confirmed, because what I can hold, and on what terms, is a very different question in August 2026 than it will be in March 2027.
Where to stay: the best bases for the Ryder Cup
Here’s the reality: Adare Manor itself is fully committed during the event period (the entire month of September 2027 is blocked). So you’ll need a base elsewhere and the good news is that Ireland has incredible luxury hotels within easy reach.
The key is booking early. Rates will be premium across the region, and cancellation policies will be strict. But locking in now means better availability, better rooms, and potentially better pricing before demand peaks.
Galway, A 1.5 Hours from Adare Manor
Galway is my top pick as a base. It’s a vibrant, walkable city with incredible food, live music in every pub, and some of Ireland’s best luxury hotels.

It’s far enough from the event to have its own character and energy, but close enough for easy daily access. After a day of competition, you come back to a city that’s buzzing with life. Galway also makes a perfect starting or ending point if you want to extend your trip into Connemara or the Cliffs of Moher.
Killarney, A 1.5 Hours from Adare Manor
For couples who want to combine golf with one of the most beautiful landscapes in Ireland, Killarney is extraordinary.

The Ring of Kerry, the Gap of Dunloe, the national park, This is Ireland at its most dramatic. Several world-class hotels here, and the distance to Adare is very manageable with a private driver.
Cork & Kinsale, About 2 Hours from Adare Manor
Cork is Ireland’s food capital, and Kinsale is one of the most charming harbor towns in the country.

If your trip is as much about experiencing Ireland as it is about the golf, this is a wonderful option. Slightly further from Adare, but a private driver makes it seamless, and the culinary experiences here are truly world-class.
Dublin, About 2.5 Hours from Adare Manor
Dublin is the easiest fly-in point and a great option if you’re adding days before or after the event.

It’s further from Adare, so it works best for clients who want to spend a few days in the capital and then transfer closer to the event. We’d typically recommend starting in Dublin and moving west as the competition approaches.
Getting around: private drivers are essential (and booking up fast)
Let me be direct: you do not want to rent a car and try to navigate rural Ireland during the Ryder Cup. Between event traffic, narrow country roads, and the joy of not having to think about logistics after a long day at the course, a private driver is the way to go.

Build a trip around it: why come for just the golf?
This is Ireland. And September is one of the most beautiful months to be there. Our recommendation? Don’t just fly in for the Ryder Cup and fly home. Build a trip around it. One practical note on sequencing. During tournament week the whole southwest is at capacity, restaurants booked solid and roads busy. The day after the closing ceremony that evaporates. So I usually put the golf at the front of the trip and the rest of Ireland afterwards, which means you move to Kerry or Connemara while everyone else is heading for the airport.
For golfers: Play some of Ireland’s legendary courses before or after the event. Ballybunion, Lahinch, and the Old Head of Kinsale are all within striking distance. Imagine warming up for the Ryder Cup by playing the same links the pros grew up on.
For couples: Combine the competition days with a few nights in Killarney or Galway. One partner at the course, the other exploring castles, spas, and coastal walks then you meet for dinner and compare notes. It’s the perfect trip for golf-loving couples where one is more passionate about the sport than the other.
For groups of friends: A Ryder Cup trip with your golf buddies is the kind of thing people plan for years and talk about for longer.
