Luxury Portugal Travel: Lisbon, Porto, the Douro, and the Algarve

Portugal is the trip travelers keep telling me they wish they'd done sooner.

The Atlantic light. The food that costs a fraction of what the same meal costs in France and tastes better. The Douro Valley, one of the most atmospheric wine regions in Europe. The Algarve, with its limestone cliffs and honey-colored beaches. A capital in Lisbon that's walkable, livable, and still genuinely affordable at the luxury tier. A second city in Porto that may quietly be the more compelling of the two.

I've been designing custom Portugal trips for years, and what I've learned is that Portugal rewards travelers who go deeper than the postcard circuit. Which port cellars are worth the time versus which are glorified gift shops. Which Douro hotel makes or breaks the region. Which Algarve resorts still have private-feeling coves. Which Fado houses are the real thing versus the ones designed for coach tours. That's the work I do before you arrive.

Below are the Portugal itineraries I build most often, each designed for a specific kind of traveler. They're starting points, not scripts. Every trip gets rebuilt around what you love. If you're looking for something the samples don't cover, Madeira, the Azores, an Alentejo wine immersion, a Comporta beach week, or a deeper Portugal and Spain combination, tell me about it on our call and I'll design it from scratch.

Not sure which Portugal trip is right for you?

Tell me about your travelers and what matters most. I'll help you figure out the right starting point, and then design the trip around it.
