Must-see getaways for women & solo travelers
Spring travel is all about getaways where you can unwind, explore, and thrive! Whether you’re a solo traveler seeking a supportive community or a group of friends looking for a rejuvenating escape, it’s the perfect time to renew your spirit and plan your next adventure — especially now that winter’s chill has given way to the crisp, refreshing spring air!
I’m always reminded of the time I wandered through the sunny, winding aisles of a bustling Parisian outdoor market. The stunning sandstone buildings lined the streets, and the blooming trees' faint fragrance blended perfectly with the warm, tempting aromas of freshly baked baguettes and ripe fruit being sold by the vendors. It was a postcard-perfect sight. For me, it was truly a moment of pure magic — Paris in the spring revived all my senses and felt alive with endless possibilities.
I fondly remember striking up a conversation with a fellow solo traveler, discovering we shared the same love for collecting one-of-a-kind travel mementos. Despite being two solo travelers from opposite sides of the world, we found common ground, proving that the best travel experiences are the ones that connect us. These fun, unforgettable moments are what make solo travel so special — personal, meaningful, and full of surprises.
Unlock new adventures and rejuvenating escapes this spring
Spring travel goes beyond the typical bustling city marketplace. It’s a golden opportunity to immerse yourself in festival season, indulge in soul-nourishing yoga retreats, and swap lounging for active escapes — aka Athletic Adventures. Whether it’s kayaking in Croatia, parasailing in Hawaii, or taking a scenic train journey through the Alps, inclusive travel is redefining exploration.
For something different, consider a ‘detour trip’ to a lesser-known gem near a famous destination. Instead of Santorini, explore Tinos, Greece. Ditch Amalfi for Maratea, Italy. Rather than Paris (sorry, Paris, we still love you!), unwind in Colmar, France — offering authentic charm, rich culture, and fewer tourists. These exciting destinations bring a sense of renewal!
Wine with a local twist
A fresh, delicious glass of wine with friends is one of the epitomes of springtime rituals. Even better when you’re in undiscovered vineyards where winemaking is deeply tied to the local culture, and tastings feel like a conversation with the winemaker rather than a tourist attraction. Imagine sipping bold reds and refreshing whites in Puglia’s Primitivo vineyards, or savoring Sicily’s more delicate wines made from grapes around Mount Etna, like Nero d’Avola.
Self-care travel — The ultimate reset
Wellness travel is all about rejuvenation and long-lasting benefits! Whether you’re meditating in a gorgeous boutique hotel’s spa or indulging in a thermal bath in Iceland, Italy, Germany, or Switzerland, these trips offer incredible benefits. I loved knowing that the hot springs in Arenal, Costa Rica — similar to a thermal bath — were incredibly relaxing, nourishing for my skin and joints, and happily boosted my immune system after all that winter’s cold weather.
Close to the States, one of the Caribbean's most tranquil spots, perfect for meditation, yoga, and rejuvenating spa treatments, is St. Lucia. I was happily surprised during my winter break by its mix of luxurious spa treatments and panoramic views of the Pitons. This destination is ideal for a wellness getaway and offers one of the best examples of ecotourism travel.
Back to the city — for cultural immersion
A fantastic example of where affordable, rich cultural history and hidden gems await you is Lisbon, Portugal! A mix of rich culture, cobblestone streets, and vibrant nightlife, Lisbon is perfect for solo travelers to explore museums, art galleries, and local markets at their own pace.
